Between the 11th and 15th Centuries, it was the capital city of the kingdom of Granada, the last territory held by the Arabs in Spain. The Catholic King and Queen reconquered it in 1492. The coexistance of different cultures and religions (Muslims, Jews and Christians) is evident in the local art and even in its cuisine, which makes use of plenty of seasonings and spices.

We will visit the Alhambra, a fortified palace city and one of the most important monuments in Spain, declared World Heritage by Unesco.

We will also visit other monuments (Cathedral, Royal Chapel with the tombs of the Catholic King and Queen...) and interesting spots (Albaicín, old Arab quarter, Alcaicería...)

Granada has an important University founded in 1531.
