City of origin of Roman emperors Adriano and Trajano.

Sevilla became a very important economic centre after the discovery of America in 1492, as relations with the New World were managed from this city.

It has an important University founded in 1505.

Sevilla is rich in monuments, legacy of the many civilisations that have lived in it (Gothic cathedral, the Giralda, the Torre del Oro, the Indies Archive, the Alcazares, the Jewish quarter...).

Many Romantic artists have been “bewitched” by this city. Several operas are set in Seville (The Power of Fate, Carmen, Figaro´s wedding...).
