Spanish & Spanish Culture – Hispanic Studies at Malaca Instituto
Carlos Saura, Pedro Almodóvar, Boabdil el Chico, General Franco, El Cordobés, Paco de Lucía, Antonio Banderas, Miguel de Cervantes, García Lorca, Los Reyes Católicos, Felipe González and Joaquín Cortés - what do all these have in common ?
Well, they’re obviously all Spanish. They are all writers, actors, musicians, historical personalities or in some other way linked to the history and culture of Spain and in particular Andalucía. However, for you, the most important link could be that you can learn about all of them on Malaca Instituto’s Hispanic Studies programme.
If you are considering dedicating some time to learning Spanish, why not go all the way and really get to grips with the language and its culture. You could spend 3 or 4 months learning Spanish and get to a reasonably good level. However you could also stay a few months more and become fluent to such a degree that you would never forget the language and you would be able to use it comfortably, both orally and in written form, in business and social life. Sounds like it might be a good investment in today’s Europe !
On our Hispanic Studies course our students study the Spanish language, they prepare for government-recognised examinations in Spanish and they study a whole range of aspects drawn from Spain’s fascinating cultural heritage.
While they are in Málaga they also visit (as well as study) the great cities of Granada, Cordoba, Sevilla and Ronda ; they can go to Morocco for the weekend ; they can learn to dance Sevillanas and Salsas ;to cook paella and tortilla and to appreciate Spanish films and literature, in Spanish ! They also have the chance to meet all the other students who study in the school each year and to learn about the 40 or so countries from which they come.
By the time they finish they have established long-lasting friendships amongst themselves, with our teachers and with local people and achieve a level of Spanish of which they can be proud in any context.
Fun, character developing , inter-cultural and without a question of doubt CV-enhancing!
